MOTIVATION...PARTY OF ONE.
Imagine if your ability to get a table at a fine restaurant was reflected by how you were currently living your life? "Mr. Procrastination, your table isn't quite ready; the busboy hasn't gotten around to cleaning it yet. It will be a little longer...or maybe never."
Not only would Mr. Procrastination get pretty hungry after a while, he'd also be pretty stressed by all the things he'd left undone.
And whether your name might be Smith or Brown and whether you might be a Houston busboy or a Dallas photographer, we all assume the identity of Mr. Procrastination from time to time.
Tell him to take a hike. Now.
And let's face it, Mr. Limitation could get a table, but the menu might consist of only bread and water.
And that Confrontation fella is just plain annoying; always bickering about everything and accomplishing nothing. Nobody wants to share a table when he's around. What a bully.
Leave those guys at home. There's no room for them at your table. Shed those identities and assume a better role.
Life is more rewarding taking on the persona of folks like Mr. Determination or Mr. Communication.
My favorite is that of Mr. Motivation. I love it when Mr. Motivation comes to visit and I always hope he stays a long time. We always get a great table and often Motivation brings his friends, Dedication and Appreciation along with him. What a great gathering this makes for. There's such a positive vibe.
The twins, Inspiration and Creation, drop in more often when Motivation is there....and guess what - we all eat better when these guys and gals are all present and working together.
And wouldn't you know it, it's a real event when Mr. Collaboration shows up. That makes for a satisfying experience.
This is all a bit silly and perhaps a strange analogy, but I know when I approach photo shoots with a positive attitude, whether I'm photographing architectural interiors or shooting executive portraits, things just go smoother and it shows in the final results. Keeping my clients happy and exceeding their expectations with great photography is what motivates me.
